Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon (1973)

The Dark Side of the Moon is a concept album by English progressive rock group Pink Floyd. Released in March 1973, the album built on the ideas Pink Floyd had explored in their live shows and previous recordings, but it lacks the extended instrumental excursions that characterised their work following the departure of founding member, principal composer and lyricist, Syd Barrett. The album's themes include conflict, greed, aging, and mental illness, the latter partly inspired by Barrett's deteriorating mental state.

Pink Floyd - Meddle (1971)

Meddle is the fifth studio album by Pink Floyd. It was released in October 1971, and demonstrates the band's change in genre from psychedelic rock, to progressive rock.

The album was recorded at a series of locations around London, including Abbey Road Studios. With no material to work with and no clear idea of the album's direction, the band devised a series of novel experiments which eventually inspired the album's signature track, "Echoes". Although many of the group's later albums would be unified by a central theme with lyrics written mainly by Roger Waters, Meddle was a group effort with lyrical contributions from each member.

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra - Hits Of Pink Floyd (1994)

When I considered the idea of symphonic Pink Floyd, I expected the awesome power of the orchestra to be unleashed in a kind of breathtaking glory that cannot be achieved with mere electric guitars and synthesizers, the original tools of Pink Floyd. Instead, what I got in this CD is a pathetic attempt to make the orchestra sound like a four-man band. Adding insult to injury, they chose to include vocals and chorals to stupidly intone snippets of the original Pink Floyd lyrics in between the inane orchestral passages . The effect is of someone humming a tune without quite recalling all the words. Extraordinarily mediocre.

Pink Floyd - I'm Addicted!!

Since I was a kid ,
PINK FLOYD can be considered as one of the leading bands in progressive rock from the seventies. Their first line-up consisted of guitarist Syd BARRETT, bassist-singer Roger WATERS (who left the band in 1983), drummer Nick MASON and keyboardist Rick WRIGHT. Their early material was mostly written and sung by BARRETT, at that time the central figure of the group. The first album "The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" of 1967 contains come catchy pop songs, together with more experimental and longer instrumental pieces. They even reached the Top-20 in England with the song "Arnold LAYNE". In the beginning of 1968, guitarist David GILMOUR joined the band to replace BARRETT in live performances. But BARRETT had to leave the group because of mental instability.

When the King (
Waters) & Queen (Gilmour) era, i'm really addicted to them. Pink Floyd would continue to polish their brand of experimental rock, which married psychedelia with ever-grander arrangements on a Wagnerian operatic scale. Hidden underneath the pulsing, reverberant organs and guitars and insistently restated themes were subtle blues and pop influences that kept the material accessible to a wide audience.

Along with days of sucess, that their lyrics focus heavily on the sadness or evil of our world, but because of that, many people who listen to them start to understand themselves, and that has became Pink Floyd's sucess. My favorite album is obviously Dark Side of the Moon,
which made their brand of cosmic rock even more approachable with state-of-the-art production, more focused songwriting, an army of well-time stereophonic sound effects, and touches of saxophone and soulful female backup vocals.

Pink Floyd is the sort of band that has such quality songs that you can listen to every one and not have one bad thing to say about any of them, and that's why Pink Floyd is one of my favorite bands.
They know their formula, they can execute it on a grand scale, and they can count on millions of customers - many of them unborn when Dark Side of the Moon came out,(include me) hehehe .. and unaware that Syd Barrett was ever a member.

Lastly, listen to them for curiosity!Rock On!!

Nightingales and Bombers is an album released in 1975 by Manfred Mann's Earth Band.
"The title of this album was inspired by a recording made in Surrey, England during the Second World War, by an ornithologist intending to record Nightingales. The bombers flew over at the same time and were recorded by accident. The recording has been incorporated in 'As Above, So Below'". - Manfred Mann 1975(In fact, the recording was made on the 19th May 1942 by a BBC sound engineer for the BBC. Messin' is a rock album released in 1973 by Manfred Mann's Earth Band.

The album was produced by Manfred Mann and engineered by John Edwardes at Maximum Sound Studios, London in 1973.

For the US release, the album was re-titled Get Your Rocks Off and the track "Pretty Good" was included in place of "Black And Blue", seemingly because the latter was about slavery and deemed unsuitable for the US market! Both tracks were included on the 1998 re-mastered re-issue.
